    Growing Adherent Cells?

    If you are growing adherent cells that do not produce their own extracellular matrix, you will need to coat your plates with an appropriate adherence coating such as GECKO. GECKO is a chemically defined and animal component free mix of adherence proteins found in FBS that facilitates attachment of many adherent cell types to standard TC-treated cell culture plates. ​

    Recombinant Vitronectin

    Some cell types differentiate in response to fibronectin-heavy coatings and GECKO is not suitable for facilitating adhesion in these instances. Media City Scientific recommends recombinant vitronectin for cell types which are conventionally cultured in FBS without an adherence coating, but which do not respond well to GECKO™ or other fibronectin-based coatings.
